101 Girls Finish Season Three at Summer Splash

Petaluma, CA – The 101 Girls finished their third season with a bang at the Summer Splash event in Morgan Hill, CA.  All three teams had incredible finishes, but best hair for the weekend hands down goes to Madeline “Mad Dog” Mauer!

Best Hair, Summer 2017

14U Black started their weekend off right with a win over West Valley Redhawks.  Then, as the sun began blazing and temperatures sky rocketed to 100+, the team stayed focused en route another victory over Peninsulaisula Select, wraping up Saturday 2-0.  Going into Sunday, they had tall order against West Coast Starz, but were again able to pull out a victory to move to 3-0 and earn a slot in the championship game.  In the championship, the team continued their dominance with a convincing 8-2 win to grab 1st place for second time at Summer Splash.

HS Gold opened against a tough Seattle Superstix team falling in their first game.  The team battled in their second game, but with a short bench and the heat, they fell to 0-2 on Saturday.  However, this team was not deterred. Falling down 0-4 in the first game on Sunday, things were looking glim, but the team showed tremendous fight and battled to an 8-8 tie.  In their final game, they tied the game up with just 2 minutes on the clock and had one more shot to win it, but were unable to do so finishing with a second tie.  With only 14 players, the team should be commended on their effort and embracement of the Play Hard mantra here at 101!

HS Black started the day off with a close win over Orinda 7-6, but that is the closest anyone would get to them.  They played perhaps their best game of summer with a 13-6 win over StickWithIt on Saturday afternoon and headed into Sunday with a chance to get into the championship game.  Another convincing win Sunday morning propelled them to the championship against Utah Mamici.  The team shot out of the gate leading 4-0 early and cruised to a 8-1 win and another championship at Summer Splash.

All three teams had tremendous summer seasons, underlined by each team’s individual development and team camaraderie.  While they wrap up the summer, the teams will be back on the lacrosse field at tryouts on August 26th in Sonoma.  Great Summer, Ladies!
