Petaluma, CA – 101 Lacrosse hosted the first ever recruiting event focused solely on playing lacrosse in the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA). “With over 50 players and 8 coaches, we had a great first year event,” stated 101 Lacrosse Founder Panchito Ojeda. “All the coaches in attendance got an intimate environment to evaluate players and see some players who will definitely fit at their programs.”
The event was hosted on November 5-6 in Rohnert Park, CA at Rancho Cotate HS adjacent to Sonoma State University. Saturday the event focused on practice reps and helping players elevate their game through the coaching of college coaches. That was followed up on Sunday with games amongst the players attending the event.
“Most recruiting tournaments today are NCAA focused. We wanted to put on a first-rate event that puts the MCLA at the forefront as a viable competitive option to play high-level collegiate lacrosse. I couldn’t be more pleased with the level of play and organization of the PLAYMCLA Showcase.” stated Sierra Nevada Head Coach and co-founder of PLAYMCLA Matt Blamey. “I know myself, along with several other MCLA coaches, have had some great conversations with future MCLA stand-outs as a direct result of this event. I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for PLAYMCLA.”
