Andrew grew up in Wheaton, Maryland and began playing lacrosse in middle school at Sandy Spring Friends School. He continued to fuel his passion for lacrosse by playing with multiple club teams during high school once each spring season concluded at SSFS. Andrew¬†played defense at The Ohio State University under the tutelage of Coach Joe Breschi and was a member of their 2007-08 team that reached the NCAA Quarterfinals. After transferring to St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Andrew was a member of the Seahawk teams that elevated the program’s stature while coaching local club lacrosse teams during the fall weekends.

Upon graduating from St. Mary’s, Andrew served as a volunteer coach at his high school alma mater and coached the Madlax 2018 National Team to multiple championships across the country. Andrew relocated to the Bay Area in 2015 to coach club and high school lacrosse in Marin Country. Once settling in San Rafael, Andrew coached Terra Linda HS and served as the Madlax-California Program Director. His responsibilities included tournament logistics, coaching all-star teams, running private lessons, and team administration.

Andrew was hired as Dominican University’s Defensive Coordinator in Fall 2015, and was a member of Dominican University’s 2016 WCLL Coaching Staff of the Year. Currently, Andrew is the head coach of the Town School for Boy’s 5th & 6th-grade team during the spring season.

Coach Klontz co-founded 101 San Francisco with Panchito Ojeda in May 2016 and serves as the Director of Operations for SF while coaching for the program. Andrew credits his high school coaches, Wilson Felter, Steff Kerr and Eduardo Polon, for his love of the game and his passion for coaching youth and high school players. He plays post-grad lacrosse with Barbary Coast, loves to be outdoors and take in live music throughout the Bay Area.
