Petaluma, CA – The Sonoma Indoor Lacrosse League (SILL) opened their regular season on Sunday. The day began with a youth clinic and scrimmage. Players were getting after groundballs, ripping twine, and having a blast getting better. After the youth began our High School season.
To open the High School season the West Side Bull Ranchers ran past the Mid County Redwood Climbers 21-1. The Bull Ranchers started the game fast jumping out to a 9-0 lead early and then never looked back. Mid County never gave up, and continued to battle the whole game finding the back of the end towards the end of the second half.
In the first game of their double header the 137 Highway Bandits took on the Old Adobe Fort Defenders. It was a back and forth game with numerous ties, but the Old Adobe Fort Defender’s Josh Garcia iced the game with a goal with 37 seconds left to give the Defenders a 15-13 lead, which would end up being the final score.
In their second game the Bandits took on the North Country Fighting Grapemen. The Grapemen came prepared and hungry to get a win, but the game started a bit slow as neither team could get it past the goalie. Striking first the Grapemen lead 1-0 before the halftime score of 5-4. The second half was all Grapemen as they scored 9 while goalie Jesse Valerio held down the fort to hold the Bandits to just 4 second half goals.
